venerable tradition of the vinyl split-7" single, our

absolutely exclusive track by Ben, the other by an artist
of Ben's choosing.
Our first and second split-mp3s
are still available. The links are at the bottom of

I
Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Any More
(Lowe/Tennant)
I Don't Know... is a cover of
a Pet Shop Boys song. Ben says of the track:
"this pet
shop boys song was off their last album nightlife. i
have always loved that they write sad dance music. lonely
lovely boy music. this one hits the spot."
Hey
is for Horses (M. Devine, copyright
2000 Reseda Spleen Publishing/ BMI)
Matt Devine was a founding member
of Permanent
Green Light and Ventilator
(whose lone CD Reseda
Spleen is available on Delmore
Recordings), and he has helped Possum Dixon
and others make music. Matt's a Taurus, eats peanut
butter, and enjoys long walks and a good sight gag.
Its lyric echoing the corrective refrain
that everyone's mother tenders to those who address
her impolitely, "Hey is for Horses" is a silly love
song, one of several written for a proposed soundtrack
to accompany D.C. Comics' Yeah!. Created by Peter Bagge
(Hate, Neat Stuff) and Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets),
this children's comic book followed the exploits of
Yeah!, a pop girl group unknown on Earth but hugely
popular in outer space. Sadly, Yeah! is no longer, but
Matt's original recording can be heard here, produced
late last year at his studio Spearmint Lawn Gnome, North
Hollywood.
